Modern Day Slavery Act
This statement sets out Excellence Staffing’s actions to understand all potential modern slavery risks related to its business and to put in place steps that are aimed at ensuring that there is no slavery or human trafficking in its own business and its supply chains. This statement relates to actions and activities during the financial year 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.
As part of the healthcare sector and recruitment industry, Excellence Staffing recognises that it has a responsibility to take a robust approach to slavery and human trafficking.
We are committed to making sure everyone who works for and with us is treated fairly, is able to work safely and has their human rights respected and protected.
We are absolutely committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in our corporate activities, and to ensuring that our supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking. We are again committed to ensuring our organisational practices and risk-management approach support and facilitate this.
This statement covers the activities of Excellence Staffing:
We are a major healthcare recruitment company providing temporary staffing solutions to both NHS and private organisations throughout the United Kingdom. We deliver specialised staffing, workforce management solutions, and health and social care services.
In line with our Golden Rule "Treat others as you want them to treat you", our core values "We CARE", and driven by Excellence in everything we do in relation to the healthcare sector and recruitment industry, we recognise that we have a strong responsibility to take a robust approach to slavery and human trafficking. Slavery and human trafficking will not be tolerated in our business or supply chain.
Our Anti-slavery Policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our business or supply chains.
We show our commitment through our internal policies as follow:
• Recruitment of temporary worker policy
• Staff welfare policy
• Working time, rest breaks, and night working policy
• Annual leave pay policies and procedures
Responsibility for Excellence Staffing’s anti-slavery initiatives is as follows:
Policies: Excellence Staffing Director and HR Officer are responsible for the policy management, control and administration of the policy development process, which includes:
• maintaining a central register of all policies,
• ensuring policies are reviewed in a timely manner,
• ensuring consistency through the policy development process,
• archiving superseded policies onto Excellence Staffing Pages; and
• removing superseded policies.
Risk assessments: Whilst we assess the risk of modern slavery as low in our supply chain, we have taken appropriate steps to ensure our procedures are appropriate by:
- Ensuring robust recruitment procedures which include immigration checks;
- Ensuring employees and Candidates have the correct documents and right to work status;
- Confirming that appropriate clearing is obtained, i.e. DBS;
- Ensuring employees and Candidates are appropriately trained;
- Ensuring strong policies and procedures for the business are in place.
We carry out risk assessments for any new processes and logged on a risk register, which is reviewed and maintained by our Executive team.
Investigations/due diligence: We adopt a transparent approach to the recruitment and placement of our Candidates and employees, and fully comply with the Duty of Candour principles, and the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
We have robust contracts and/or service level agreements with all supply chains that promote transparency between both parties. In case of any incidents of Modern Slavery and/or Human Trafficking, this is properly documented, investigated if appropriate, and referred appropriately to the regulatory bodies in accordance with Excellence Staffing Incidents Policy/Procedure and in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Excellence Staffing ensures that all service level agreements signed by its suppliers comply with its policies and procedures on Slavery and Human Trafficking. Excellence Staffing also ensures that the correct information is provided around this area. Its internal audit managers conduct annual audits on its suppliers.
We are committed to continuous improvement of our commitment to the Modern Slavery Act and on annual review, we will look to make improvements to our processes. The HR team are responsible for recording and measuring our effectiveness and our requirements for improvement every year.
Excellence Staffing’s employees are required to complete a Modern Slavery training module. Refresher training is applicable for all Excellence Staffing workers regularly thereafter.
Our employees are also required to comply with all aspects of the law and our internal employee handbook including its policies and procedures. It outlines what employees need to do should a specific case of slavery and human trafficking be identified and who to contact should any signs be identified.
This statement is made pursuant to the transparency provision of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Excellence Staffing’s Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for the financial year ending 31st march 2023.
